Worcester Technology Park
PJA was employed to prepare a comprehensive Transport Assessment for the new facility, which focused on the impact of the additional traffic on the already-congested M5 Junction
6 immediately to the north of the site.
Worcester Bosch is a major employer in Worcester, manufacturing boilers and other heating appliances. The company has plans to expand its operations and, working in collaboration with the Regional Development Agency, Advantage West Midlands, identified a site for a new factory on a greenfield site to the east of the city.
In order to limit the necessary improvements to the junction, a Travel Plan was prepared which will require Worcester Bosch to meet challenging targets for increasing the number of trips made by sustainable modes.
Improvements to local walk, cycle and public transport networks were necessary to enable Worcester Bosch to meet these targets and to comply with planning policies requiring new
employment sites to be accessible by all modes. Negotiations with the Highways Agency and the local highway authority over the required transport improvements concluded and outline planning consent was granted in 2010.
