Longbridge Regeneration

Phil Jones Associates was appointed by St Modwen in 2012 to be their ongoing specialist transport advisor in support of this major development.

Regeneration on an impressive scale, the Longbridge masterplan extends across 468 acres bridging both Birmingham and Worcestershire. With Phil Jones Associates strategies to integrate the site with the transport network it is accessible by over 350 buses and 150 trains a day.

An ideal location for sustainable urban development, the site is accessible from M42 junctions 1 and 2 and M5 junction 4, which are monitored as part of an infrastructure strategy.

Sensitively created, the Longbridge masterplan pivots around the creation of a new community heart from which flows employment, leisure, public realm and future opportunities. Local access strategies and smart car parking initiatives make this an enjoyable place to get to and to stay.

Attracting many local, national and start-up technology-based businesses to the area, the Longbridge Technology Park is the ideal location for travel initiatives including car sharing, cycle to work schemes and two brand new electric car charging points.

Key services provided by PJA staff included site access designs, preparation of a Transport Assessment, identification and design of off-site highway mitigation, consideration of parking demand and negotiating the transport elements of the S106 package.
