Kidlington Parking Study

Nigel Millington, Director at PJA, led the team commissioned by Oxfordshire County Council to conduct an audit of existing off- and on-street parking areas in Kidlington.

The purpose of the study was to identify existing levels of demand, the relative requirements for short and long stay parking, the spatial distribution of that demand through the village, and consequently identify which existing parking areas could be considered for redevelopment.

The study had to take into account existing consents for retail expansion in the village and the effect those consents would have on reduced parking supply versus increased demand, together with competing parking demands generated by other land uses in the village centre.  Nigel then coordinated inputs from Planning colleagues to identify car parking areas suitable for redevelopment, taking into account the supply and demand data, together with the policy framework.
