On Tuesday evening, a combined Phil Jones Associates, PJA Engineering and Multimodal team emerged as tournament winners in Intelligent Data Collection's inaugural five-a-side football charity tournament at Powerleague in Birmingham.
With a record of five wins and one draw, the seven-strong squad topped the league of seven teams which also included Atkins, Amey, Mott MacDonald, Mode, Peter Brett Associates and Intelligent Data.
The first game, a physical battle against Intelligent Data, ended in a 5-3 victory for PJA followed by a more tactical 2-1 win over Motts to build up the initial momentum. A thrilling 4-4 draw against Atkins saw both teams score late goals to throw the title race open.
However, the PJA team regrouped with a 3-2 win with over Amey and a 6-3 victory over Mode to set up a finale finish. With a win needed to secure the victory, PBA were the opposition looking to spoil the party. After a tense start, a 4-2 victory saw the PJA/Multimodal team over the line to claim top spot and the victory spoils!
Well done to all involved for a top effort, the first sporting trophy for the respective companies, and for helping to raise (currently) £1,600 for the Trussell Trust Charity.
