Consultation on revised NPPF now open

Consultation on revised NPPF now open

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government launched its consultation on the revised draft of the National Planning Policy Framework.  The consultation runs until Thursday 10th May 2018.

The draft sets out changes to the policy framework in a number of key areas; amongst them Plan-Making, Decision Making, Delivering Quality and Building a Strong, Competitive economy.

Transport is a core theme that sits through the consultation draft.  Today, PJA announce that we will be issuing a number of short technical notes that will aim to get under the detail of the consultation draft and set out what the practical implications are for developers and others engaged in the development process.

Key questions remain and as others seek to summarise the detail we will aim to set out some answers to questions such as:

  • Has the definition of severity and the introduction of the notion of significant impact changed the way Highway Authorities should deal with Transport Assessments?
  • What is actually meant by the phrase “can be made sustainable”?
  • What are the implications of LCWIPs' inclusion in the NPPF?

We will aim to deal with these issues and more during the early part of the consultation period to inform our clients in making their responses.
